It was a wonderful home to enjoy winter. Beautiful lake ice to go look at from the decks. The house was done well enough to not howl in the fierce winds. So close to the park I could ski in the mornings, come back for lunch then go right back there rested. Because I don’t snowmobile I’m glad the tracks weren’t right on the property. We saw hundreds out and about but never heard or smelled one at the house.

Absolutely wonderful place. loved the simple wood work design, the beautiful cozy fireplace, the view, need I say more, the well appointed kitchen, lacking for nothing. the bed was firm and comfy. and location so close to the Porcupine Mts perfect in the winter for down hill skiing and cross country skiing and snow shoeing which we enjoyed.

I absolutely loved our stay. This is the one time we rented a house that looked lovely in the photos and was even better in person! I would move in. I was with my teen daughter, exchange student, and one of their friends for a ski weekend. We were all very impressed and very cozy and comfortable. It had everything we needed and was conveniently located to all we wanted to do. This was a great stay and I highly recommend!

We had an unforgettable stay at this charming VRBO on Lake Superior in Michigan. The cozy indoor fireplace was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The Christmas decorations made it feel even more magical, and we were so happy that we could bring our two dogs along to enjoy the getaway with us. We loved walking outside in the fresh snow, taking in the serene winter landscape. The highlight of our trip was when my then boyfriend, now fiancé, proposed to me right there—truly a romantic and wonderful experience. We can’t wait to return!

Pictures were exact representation of the rental. There were details such as labels on switches that made the stay we easier. It was appreciated that thought into details were taken by the host. Beach was great for walking, night time rock hunting. My whole family would definitely return.

We stayed at Jarven Hytti almost 3 years ago and knew we would come back some day. The timing finally worked out and our 2nd visit was every bit as wonderful as the first, so we’ll be back again … hopefully without such a long interlude between visits! Lake Superior is what draws us in the first place and it did not disappoint. The combination of big water and big sky makes for some pretty amazing views. We could watch for hours. Stars and Comet Tsuchinshan made for extra special night skies. We hoped for aurora, but didn’t see them this time. This was a wonderful break from our normal routine! Oh, and don’t miss the HUGE pretzel’s at Gigi’s Coffeehouse in Ontonagon, or the scrumptious pulled pork sandwiches at Roxie’s!

We loved the location and the property was spotless ! Walking out to beach for sunrise and sunset was super nice . We were close to local attractions and hiking - thank you - we will for sure be back !

This was probably the most beautiful property we've stayed at. The house was spotless, and had everything you could possibly need for your stay. Being 50% Finnish,I really appreciated all the Scandinavian decor (with a bit of Paris thrown in). We enjoyed the outdoor (and indoor) fireplaces. The property was just beautiful and situated on Lake Superior with wonderful starlit, dark sky views. We will definitely be back!!

This is was perfect to celebrate my husband’s and mines 5th wedding anniversary. Right on the lake with fantastic views. The house is beautiful and very clean. Would definitely come back!

We stayed for 3 nights in this perfect little cabin. It was exactly what we needed, direct access to Lake Superior, clean, well maintained with great hosts! The location is ideal for exploring and day trips to a lot of different destinations.

Our family loved our stay! The home was spacious enough to give everyone room but we were able to gather together and have fun. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and the variety of offered suggestions and things at the home were great. Loved the beach access and the beautiful deck. The fireplace was awesome!

This was our second stay and is the perfect location for hiking! After a day of hiking, we enjoyed sitting by Superior listening to the waves. House is clean and as described.

Everything about this beautiful cottage/home is perfect. The hosts have a gift for making their home feel like our home for a week. The kitchen is well stocked without being too full, the linens were luxurious, the location was close to everything we wanted to do. Cannot say enough good things about Järven Hytti. Walked in and was totally blown away, absolutely amazing. We haven't had a vacation in 4 years due to my health issues and it was so relaxing and refreshing. Not one negative in our trip. Your place was the best we have ever stayed. The house is unique and breathtaking and was beyond our expectations. We would love to stay again next year . Thank you for your hospitality 

This cabin suited our needs and vacation lifestyle perfectly. The space was immaculate and amazingly designed for being together with friends or family. My 3-year old daughter enjoyed staying in the second bedroom with her own bathroom (we did bring an inflatable bed for her since she’s outgrown the pack n play and the bunk bed was just a bit too high). The fireplace was perfect for a colder start to the week but then it warmed up and we were able to swim in the lake at the end! The boardwalk to the beach is extremely convenient. We hiked at Porcupine Mountains State Park (very good/close access) in the mornings and relaxed and enjoyed the beach in the afternoons. A plus that dogs are allowed as well. We cooked almost every meal and found all the items we needed and appreciated the grocery store within a 10 min drive. Could not have asked for anything else! On our last night we had a campfire on the beach, made s’mores, watched the sunset and even saw some bats! Rock collecting was excellent as well. We did pay close attention to finding the location since Google Maps is not accurate. Hope to stay here again in the future! Thank you!

We can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at this lovely getaway! The house is simple but beautifully designed and allows you to appreciate the lake and surrounding nature. Everything was very clean and we had all we needed for the week to cook, do laundry, etc. The boardwalk to the beach is flat and short, making it easy to enjoy time there throughout the day. Our young child and dog loved finding rocks and playing in the water. It was calm enough to swim a bit at least one day too. It was a great spot to stay for day trips to the Porcupine Mountains and other of the many natural and historical sites in the area. We definitely hope to return again to unplug and enjoy the beauty and peace of this house!

We enjoyed one of our best relaxing family vacations ever at Jarven Hytti.  Your cottage and location are one of the BEST places we have stayed and allowed us to unwind and relax.  The layout, amenities, location, etc are wonderful.  We spent many hours lounging on the deck at the cottage and the one at the beach.  Our dog loved being able to hang out with us and enjoyed Lake Superior as much as we did.  You have thought of everything to make your cottage such a wonderful place. The indoor/outdoor fireplaces, the mattresses, kitchen utensils,  furnishings all are great.  We enjoyed time at the Porcupine Mountains, waterfalls, etc but our best time was relaxing as a family at Jarven Hytti.  Thank you so much!

So relaxing and quiet. Very comfortable. The house had everything we needed. Loved the deck on the house, where we had our meals. The deck by the lake was even better! We spent so much time there. Lake Superior is beautiful!

A short drive to the Porkies. Easy access to town for groceries or restaurants. House was well stocked and clean. My family enjoyed the lake access and the kids appreciated the beach area. Would recommend!

What a wonderful base camp for hiking in the Porkies! Extremely clean, exactly as advertised. We enjoyed hiking, walking in the sand, enjoying beautiful sunsets and listening to the waves hit the shore. You won’t be disappointed!

We came from the western end of the lake for some reading, hiking, and silence. We enjoyed a little sun, rain, and a lot of fun. Thank you for this sanctuary!

Once again, everything was perfect with this house, the location, the owner & most valued team member. Sunsets on the beach, crafts on the deck, sightseeing with Porkies close by. The nearby town is just the right size and has a nice beach too. Fresh whitefish & smoked trout at the IGA grocery store, Pasties at the cafe in town. just what the U.P. is all about. I'm going back in August!

We enjoyed our stay, so many benefits! The location to hiking trails, the relaxing atmosphere at the cabin, beachfront views, and the best part would be having our working dog enjoy the entire adventure with us! Loved every second of our stay!

This was a fantastic stay in the UP for us. We (spouse and myself, our 4 year old and our dog) stayed for the New Years holiday. The house itself was gorgeous, well equipped in every way, and perfectly clean. The lake access is very nice, and although it's January we could still see a bit of the nice sand beach underneath the ice 🙂 Location is perfect for visiting the Porkies. Very quiet location despite being on M-64. The snowmobile trails in the area don't go past this area of the highway so it was quiet all day too. Kitchen had everything we needed for plenty of cooking. A good selection of spices are already on-hand and there was plenty of coffee supplied (although we also brought our own just to be prepared).

My husband and I had a wonderful time this past week vacationing in the UP. The Jarven Hytti property was outstanding! We loved everything about it ... it was easily accessible, beautifully furnished, was in a perfect lakefront location and was exceptionally clean. The amenities were plentiful and the property was just as listed. Quite honestly ... it exceeded our expectation! Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at this lovely home. We are already talking about returning next year.

We really enjoyed staying at this property. House was extremely clean and we would definitely stay here again. It was an even closer walk to the lake that we realized and we were lucky enough to have had a couple of warm days in October where we were able to enjoy hanging out at the beach in our t-shirts and enjoy a beach fire. This was a quiet, private location and a very close drive to the Porcupine Mountains.

This cozy cabin was perfect for our annual anniversary trip. Perfectly decorated, super clean, awesome deck and having the big lake right down the boardwalk was the best part! Also, SO nice to be able to bring our two pups with us for the fun! We all loved it and were sad to leave. We will definitely be returning to this one!! This was our 2nd time staying at JH and it was just as wonderful as the first! A property this nice that allows pets is a rare find! Our Labrador loved swimming in Lake Superior, playing ball on the beach and hiking in the porcupine state park. We’ll definitely be back!

We three gals, now in our 60's , were camping 27 years ago in the Upper Peninsula. Of course now It was so nice to come together again in a house. And a very special house. This was a return visit for me, but the other two were ecstatic when we arrived. camp fires on the water, arts & crafts on the deck, delicious meals at the dining room table. we are returning

This place is perfect for a quiet retreat. Multiple fire places and a deck out by the water. The beach is perfect and the home is so cozy. My wife and I will certainly be coming back. This was the best vacation we’ve had in a long time.

This is by far the prettiest vacation rental we have every stayed at. Clean and beautiful property and host was communicative and quick to respond. Will definitely stay here again!!

We were charmed from the moment we entered the house and were very comfortable during our short stay. The setting with the short walk to the shore was lovely. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen as well and made use of it to cook breakfast on a couple of mornings (there is a well-stocked grocery just outside of Ontonagon). The proximity to Porcupine Mountains State Park made it the perfect jumping off point for daily adventures. Highly recommend. We would love to return!

This place is better than the photos. Perfect Lake Superior beach with a very relaxing home. So many lovely touches in the home from the fireplace, large porch, wonderful kitchen and extremely comfortable beds. We cannot wait to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The location (so close to the park, and the lake right there), the views, the amenities were all amazing and just perfect. The bed was firm and comfortable. The towels, linen provided was of high quality. Everything made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The cabin was so clean and very spacious. The fireplace made the nippy evenings warm and cozy. This is a well designed cabin that is also well equipped. We saw so many birds outside; pretty wild flowers, and of course, Lake Superior sunrises and sunsets. Overall, a wonderful stay at JH. Thank You Ivan.

It was great to be back in Ivan's lovely cottage on the lake! We've stayed in many VRBO properties and this is the best...well-built, clean, comfortable and fully stocked. After skiing every day we enjoyed relaxing by the fire and making meals in a spacious kitchen. Perfect location!

This cabin was everything it was promised to be! The location is phenomenal. My kids and dog loved running on the beach each morning, discovering fun new rocks. We hiked in the Porkies daily. There are numerous trails nearby. The house itself was clean and comfortable. We made our own meals and found the kitchen to be very well stocked. We loved having the indoor fireplace and spent many cozy hours in front of it. We had hoped to use the deck and outdoor fireplace but the weather was too wet. Overall, this was a great property and was exactly what we wanted for our family getaway.

This property is absolutely amazing! It had everything we needed to make it a peaceful and enjoyable experience. We’ve already rebooked our return trip and can’t wait to enjoy the Lake Superior sunrises and sunsets once again.

Was just what we needed. We fully enjoyed the house inside and out. Everything we needed was there (other than some marshmallow roasting sticks, but we made our own from the available supply of fallen trees and driftwood). We spent a couple of days hiking and visiting Ontonogan, but the rest of our week was spent in the house or on its beach. Very relaxing to fall asleep to the sound of the lake surf. Thanks for a great time.

The Jarven Hytti provided a perfect Lake Superior home base for our family vacation. We had a wonderful stay in mid June 2021. The cabin was lovely and the beach was amazing! Even though the water was still pretty cold, our girls (ages 7 and 10) loved wading and searching for special rocks. We had a difficult time getting them to leave Jarven Hytti for our hiking, waterfall and fishing excursions! Thank you for a wonderful getaway spot and we look forward to our future stay!

If you’re looking to explore the Porcupine Mountains and Keweenaw Peninsula, Järven Hytti is the place to stay. Everything we needed for our two week stay was provided. The host is communicative, helpful, and accommodating. The house is nice and comfortable, especially with the two fireplaces! The adult beds were very comfortable too (that can make or break a vacation for me). The beach is awesome, we spent days rockhounding and nights hunting yooperlites. We also enjoyed miles of hiking in the Porkies, waterfalls and beautiful views everywhere. Don’t miss the Presque Isle area of the Porkies, it is a must see. For food, Syl’s Cafe is the place to go. Good food and friendly staff. We’re definitely considering returning to Järven Hytti in the winter. 10 out of 10, would book again!

This is a gorgeous property. There is a very open line of communication with the manager should you have any questions. They have a binder full of ideas as to what to do near by should you need it. Can't wait to bring the whole family next time.

Our family enjoyed everything about this modern, clean, and super cozy place. Check-in and communication was seamless. The cabin is well equipped and exactly as described.
